It’s not possible to have a hardwood floor that’s completely flat. This is because each piece of hardwood flooring sands differently depending on its grain type (plain or quartered.)
Because your hardwood floors are being finished in your home, it’s impossible to achieve a completely clean environment as the work is occurring. There will be some dust that falls onto the freshly applied finish.
As a natural product, wood varies from piece to piece. These pieces are not fabricated in a factory; they are milled from trees and will have grain and color variations consistent with the hardwood species and grade you select.
Although hardwood flooring is a very solid product, it can be at risk of indentations caused by shoe heels (especially if those heels are damaged or worn). The finish we apply won’t prevent dents.
When your hardwood floor is installed, it will have a nice, tight fit. But because it’s a natural product, your floor will continue to absorb and release moisture. As time passes, this natural process will cause your floor to expand and contract, resulting in cracks between some of the individual pieces. Certain stain colors will show or hide this process more than others. As our customer, we want to help you understand that your home’s doors, cabinetry, and furniture are fabricated in a factory under ideal conditions and that these products typically contain between one to ten different pieces of wood. But your floor, on the other hand, is fabricated right in your own home with between 300 to 1000 unique pieces of wood. That means you’ll end up with a one-of-a-kind custom floor that can never be duplicated.
